I can hardly contain my excitement as I prepare to travel from Austin to New York for my first annual Explorers Club Dinner (ECAD.) As a new member of the Texas Chapter, of The Explorers Club, I feel privileged to be invited to this highly anticipated event that brings together explorers, adventurers, and scientists from around the world.
This year (2023), the annual dinner will be held at the stunning Glass House NYC in Hell’s Kitchen, where guests will be treated to an extravagant and sometimes unusual menu. I feel squeamish about trying dishes like fried tarantulas, guinea pigs, fried scorpions, and roasted crickets, but I want to embrace the adventurous spirit of the event and try everything on the menu!
What excites me the most is the opportunity to meet and interact with a wide variety of guests. From astronauts to famous explorers, the annual dinner attracts the most accomplished and inspiring people from various fields. The thought of being in the same room with these remarkable people fills me with awe and excitement.
I can’t wait to hear the stories of their adventures and discoveries firsthand and learn from their experiences. I am proud to be part of a community of explorers and adventurers and hope to make connections that inspire me to continue exploring the unknown.
As I prepare to attend the Explorers Club Annual Dinner, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for all the events and activities that will take place over the weekend. There is so much to see and do, from lectures on scientific breakthroughs to screenings of films highlighting the achievements of the world’s greatest explorers.
There is another event that I am also excited to attend where the awards are given to those who have made significant contributions to scientific discoveries, conservation efforts, and the advancement of scientific research.
And of course, the Flag Ceremony where explorers who have completed expeditions to remote and difficult places will return their flags to the club. Witnessing the courage and determination of these adventurers will be a humbling and inspiring experience.
As I pack my bags and prepare for this incredible journey, I know that attending the Explorers Club Annual Dinner will be a life-changing experience. I can’t wait to immerse myself in the spirit of discovery and adventure and connect with other like-minded people who have a passion for exploring the unknown.
