La Cieneguilla Petroglyphs Photogrammetry

 In Explorers Log

What a phenomenal opportunity to have found the time to explore, survey and gather photogrammetry data of the La Cieneguilla Petroglyph site! The property is managed through the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) and is very easy to access.

It has been proposed that the petroglyphs were placed there by the Keresan speaking Puebloan people living in the area between the 13th and 17th centuries, but there also appears to be evidence of many layers of glyphs dating much further back to the Archaic Period of around 8000 – 2000 BCE.

On completing the data processing of the 3d file generated through photogrammetry, it appears that the cliff side and surrounding rubble on the ground can be re-assembled to an earlier pre-contact or even post contact configuration!© Tom McGuire
